I noticed you can download the 3D models of PLCs at automationdirect.com so I 3D printed a hollowed version with translucent filament and stuffed this old LED string in it.
My Boomer boss called it a “stash box”. I guess the old guys use to keep lots of candy around or something. 🤷♂️ Dunno. I just like things that glow.
The top comments where the “But why?” and “Shut up and take my money!” meme gifs, followed by “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.”
The best one was this suggestion:
Swap this one out for a real one on your last day.
Not to steal the real one, but to see the look on the electricians face when he goes to troubleshoot and it’s glowing.
Go to the call, insist it’s not a PLC issue. Tell him how you don’t know how that’s possible. You didn’t download any code recently.
He’ll make the big reveal. “Not a PLC issue, huh?!”
“Green light means it’s OK 👍 Maybe it’s a mechanical issue?”
Even a basement website cost money to operate.
