New Life Lesson!

A new life lesson has occurred to me during a particularly rough day at work:

Mark’s Life Lesson #15: You reap what you sew; even if there’s a drought.

I’m a hardcore believer in personal responsibility. No matter your situation (for better and worse) YOU are the only person who controls the direction it goes from that point forward. And, as was the case today, if you’re at the end and there are no pleasant options left, you still have the choice to make the best of the worst. To play off the old saying: when life gives you nothing but lemons, you’d better learn to love lemons.

Maybe it could be put better this way: you’ve been a person of great integrity and character throughout your entire life and all you want is to pass on surround by those you love. Through happenstance (maybe you neglected to make friends who would outlive you) you end up alone, lungs and heart failing, seeing death knocking, and having to answer it without anyone by your side. Like a gardener who toils mercilessly, but who’s crops die from that year’s drought, the only thing you can do (and this is my technique for ALL situations, by the way) is accept what you’ve been handed, perhaps find the best in it, and enjoy your time left.

…and always thank Divine for every moment you are alive…
