My Quest

I’m on a quest. Like in a “Dungeons & Dragons” styled role playing game, I’m trying to answer a question: am I consciously living the life that follows my core values?

I hadn’t realized I was on this quest until I got back from my recent trip to Texas (photos). On the train ride, I had literally days to myself and spent a large time reading. I was able to finish a few books that (along with some trusty Media training from before) have helped me learn how to become aware of some social programming and make the conscious decision to either keep or replace that programming. Let me be clear, I’m not against social programming (like not hurting others), but so often we go into autopilot and allow choices to be made by our unconscious mind (dealing with everything from how we budget money to who and for how long we date). All these unconscious decisions were made because our brains have been preprogrammed by our socialization to make these choices. So I’m hopeful that I’ll find some things which can be reprogrammed to allow for conscious dialog, logic, and a full array of options to be considered.
