Ok, I haven’t posted anything substantial lately. Let me see what I can remember of the last couple of weeks.
I was looking for a house, but have since decided that I don’t want to be around Hillsdale for 5-10 years as I recoup an investment in property. Although, I was pre-approved for a loan and found out that I have an excellent credit score. Really, the main thing that I wanted to get out of it was to learn how to go through the process. So now if I move somewhere and have to do this in an area that I’m not familiar, I’ll at least know some of the terms and where to go for information.
A few weeks ago I was visited by two police officers; in my apartment, with a firm knock on my door at quarter to 3 a.m.!
Here’s the scenario:
Me(in boxers, hearing a knock at 3 a.m., yelling at my door [there’s no peep hole]) “Who’s there?”
Them “City Police.”
Me(puzzled) “Excuse me, what was that?”
Them “Hillsdale City Police.”
Me(with a blank stare, wondering why The Man is at my door this early) “Well, let me get some pants on.”
Me(trying to find and put on pants under a sleepy haze)
Me(opening my door, slowly and cautiously, just a crack)
Them(appearing in front of my door)
Me(opening my door further, seeing that its really the police)
Me(still shirtless, but in ugly shorts) “What can I do for you?”
Them “We’ve received numerous calls about [this part is hazy; something to the effect of a ‘Domestic Disturbance’]”
Me(in shock and awe, jaw hanging) “Are you sure this is the right place?”
Them(confirming with dispatch)
Dispatch (over the radio) “One Two Six South Manning, Apartment three”
Me(WTF!?!) “I live alone and I’ve been asleep since 11”
Them “Do you mind I just make sure no one else is here.”
Me “Have at it.”
(Here’s me, realizing I just allowed police to search my home without a warrant. I keep a close eye as the officer steps into each of my three rooms and takes a quick sweep with his flashlight.)
Them(stepping out the door, apparently finding nothing) “Thank you, sir. Have a good morning.”
Me(closing the door)WTF just happened? They couldn’t even apologize? OMG! What if they weren’t actually officers?
Me(staying awake for the rest of the morning; drinking thick, black coffee during work.)
And most recently: I took a CPR class today. Its got me wondering if people can really just fall over into cardiac arrest without any symptoms or warning. This got me thinking about my friend who died of a seemingly random brain aneurysm. I wonder what she’d be doing now if she was still alive. Clair, I pray for your safe journey, wherever you are now.

poor baby! did i say the domestic disturbance makes me want to be loud and obnoxious so the neighbors call them back and you can answer the door naked?
mmmmhhhhmmmm
I told you Marc “Just say no to hookers and blow!” Oh GTA coverage makes me laugh. Well, it could be time for new locks man. Also, be sure to ask for identification next time.
Dude, you seriously need a peephole. I have one on my door-need a stool to look in the effing thing-and a really big dog. Also ask if you can see a badge number or something.
You: *whips out paper and pen* Can you recite your badge number to me
Cop: *reads badge number*
You: Give me a moment. *Dial police and ask if cop with badge number so-and-so is supposed to be there*
If it’s legit, he can come in. If not, tell them that there is someone impersonating a cop and you need the real ones to come to your home 🙂
