I’m sitting here staring blankly into my computer screen, thinking about how much I hate technology and how The Man is always comming down on me and how I really want to explore the notion of “free love” in all of its details. Suddenly it all culminates in this one thought: “OMG, I think I’m a hippie!”
I am a hippie?

You are a fucking hippie. Really I can’t see you lasting without technology for long.
I dunno man, just give me an EEE PC, a solar panel, and let me roam.
What I can’t see myself living without is nice clothes. I need my Chinese/indian/bangledesh-ian taylored button-up shirts made of sythetic Rayon.
I wouldn’t mind doing the Amtrekker thing. Traveling around with just a backpack full of stuff. Then doing random jobs along the way. I think you should check out Into The Wild.
Dude, I watched it! Loved it.
Into the Wild or Amtrekker?
Into the wild… loved it! I cried at the end.
Well then “hippie”, let your inner hippie come out and play! Come on up to Hiawatha! Where the meaning of free love flows from great music, great drinks, campfires, and all those details inbetween!
Yeah… I’m definately not the Americana/folk music sort-of hippie.
Bah!
If you truly are interested in what you consider “free love,” I suggest you do some research on polyamory.
OMG! Thank you so much for this new term. I’ve seriously spent all evening reading up on this subject. Its really too bad that our socialization is so ingrained with marriage and monogamy. Things like polyamory are that much more difficult to function because we have no cultural templates to base this sort of relationship. And then anytime you tried to explain it to someone you’d have to cut through the “one for one” mindset.
It really is unfortunate that monogamy is considered normal in our society. I’m glad that I could help you out. There are a few polyamory communities on LJ that you could take a look at too.
