I’ve now taken two different personality tests to see if I fit into a company’s “Corporate Lifestyle”. What the f#$k does that mean!? Are you telling me that I can be denied a job based on my personality!? That’s just not American. You can deny me a job for being male, white, or just an idiot, but if I got the skill then what’s it matter what kind of personality I have? All this beurocratic bullshit and corporate overhead is really agrivating me.
If this is what all “real” (full-time) jobs are like, then maybe i’ll just go back to the gas station and start working some part-time jobs.
… or I’ll move to India. Is the corporate lifestyle just as restrictive over there? I hear the job market is booming.

I have been denied a job because I didn’t pass one of their stupid tests. And it was at Payless!! A fucking discount shoe store!!
Passing a personality test to qualify for working ANYWHERE should be outlawed.
As far as I can tell though, that’s a huge part of interviews in the first place .. if they just wanted to know about your credentials, they’d read the resume – they’re just sizing you up socially. I think.
That said, being too lazy to do it themselves, and quantizing something like that with the equivalent of an Internet quiz, does seem pretty damned lazy. *nod*
In the note of internet job quizes, while they’re just flawed to begin with. I’ve been doing some for jobs at Walmart and Target, but they’re poorly written. Too bad they don’t just do a personality quiz like what superhero character would you be?
Most job interviews are also based on your personality. If you don’t get along with the interviewer, and don’t seem to be a “good fit for the company” then they will ignore everything that you have on paper.
Welcome to the real world, where you have to know how to manipulate other people in order to get ahead. Put on a happy face, put down the answers that they want to see, and learn to pretend to like golf or whatever other sport the boss is in love with.
soooo, how did the interview in madison go?
I was gracefully told that they had decided to look at other candidates. It’s cool though, they sent me a check for travel expenses that ended up being more than what it cost us to head out there. I actually made money on the trip and got to see what a booming economy looks like!
i’ve told marc, but incase anyone else reads:
a personality test at same places is for making sure the working evnironment is friendly bc you all need to get along, but some places its to clean out the first level of incompetents. If you can read, answer, spell, think, they can clear you out before the interview phase – they can cut out the folks with criminal backgrounds etc as well.
Of course, this second one is more common with tests that include stupid random knowledge questions, or for a “skills test”.
