I think a big thing that i’ve been looking for in a woman has been the superficial look. My rationale has always been that an emotionally healthy woman will look fit and healthy on the outside. While this may be true, this thinking has led me to women who try very hard to conceal their true nature. Finally coming to this realization has helped to reframe one of my most limiting beliefs. Now, i’m finding that I have a strong desire to get to know ‘her’. I met one girl lately who’s really cute but lives in her own little world. Then there’s another girl who has a ton of skills, is independent, and i’m actually spending time to get to know her. She’s not as cute, but as I get more attracted to her personality, I seem to be finding new ways to be attracted to her physically. Has anyone seen Shallow Hal… I kinda feel like that. I always knew that I was superficial, but I guess i didn’t know how deep those feelings ran.

congrats on personal enlightenment, that’s always cheery and good. and will un-/fortuanetly continue through out your life.
as per liking people for their personality, more power to you! I for one have never really had a crush or any such thing, as only few people ever stick around long enough for me to get to know them, and although i go, ohhh! he’s so hot about and actor or someone, thats just a visual appreciation. I only ever truly thing someone is hot or attractive or consider them as potential relationships/dates/whatver if i like the personality. (Although, as you said about people putting out a fake nature, sometimes you have to guess peoples natures or are given the wrong impression, or lied too, and you realize they aren’t what you thought and you become disappointed.)
The problem with enjoying and liking a person for their personailty is that it is hard for anyone to truly get to know another person, its hard to understand how they work mentally when they probably dont even know themselves, so it becomes, hey, do you mesh and try it out and the longer you learn about them the more you can gather.
I hear some people actually date for five yrs and then happily marry.
although…the concept of marriage is scary…i mean, by then, don’t then know the best way to dig at you? That’s just not power I think other people should have!!

i guess. enjoy life. don’t let people hang you up. eveyone has inexplicable reasons why they act certain ways, you just have to try to find the people who’s inexplicable actions are amusing to you…and befriend those people…but don’t feed them after midnight. they might turn evil and multiply…or not.
