After quitting my job at the end of 2010 (last year’s review can be found here), I began the year in a daze; simply trying to get my life back on a track. I may end up having to write paragraphs for context instead of simply answering questions line-by-line. We’ll see how it goes.

1) Was 2011 a good year for you? Like 2010, this year has been one of growth and change. That’s not always how people define a “good year”, as I’ve had to make some tough choices and really work to get myself back onto a life path. The good part of the year was finding a goal to push myself toward and making the decision to live a more active and deliberate life.

2) What was your favorite moment of the year? I had a lot of interesting stuff happen this year, but I think the moment that stands out most is being a part of my best friend’s wedding. I don’t remember giving the best man speech, but I do remember getting super drunk, hanging out with all of my old friends, and dancing the night away in an old country barn… that was a great time.

3) What was your least favorite moment of the year? During the summer, there was an incident where I watched an elderly man suffocate. I asked him if I should call an ambulance, to which he clearly communicated in the negative. He didn’t die, but I realized that if he’d continued having breathing problems, I could not go against his rational decision. I would have watched him die. Even now, recalling this, I am both comforted and distraught by this realization.

4) Where were you when 2011 began? For the first time in many years, I was not hanging out at Shanty Creek. Instead, I was hanging out with Dave and Emily for a New Years party at one of his friend’s. There was much boozing and everyone was coupling except for poor William.

5) Who were you with? Dave, Emily, Courtney, Mike, and many more.

6) Where will you be when 2011 ends/ended? I’m planning to spend some time at Courtney’s annual welcome back party in Adrian, then ride with them to Chicago for a New Years Day party with Mike’s family.

7) Who will you be with when 2011 ends/ended? Mike and Courtney… perhaps my brother and his fiance.

8) Did you keep your new years resolution of 2011? Goal was to ‘find myself’ and create a life plan. Although I don’t believe it may ever be possible to fully know one-self, I’m much closer now then ever before; and I finally have a flexible plan for what to do with myself.

10) Did you fall in love in 2011? This remains to be determined…

11) If yes, with who? I have become very close with one of my new friends at college

12) If yes, do they know? She does, but unfortunately for both of us, our aspirations are quite different. It is just not meant to be.

13) Are you still in love with them? Oh, definitely. I don’t think I really fall out of love with anyone.

14) Do you regret it? Not really; it’s not ideal, but having a companion (even a knowingly temporary one) is still wonderful.

15) Did you breakup with anyone in 2011? Yes. Val and I, after 4 years, finally concluded our romantic relationship in February.

16) Did you make any new friends in 2011? I have made a lot of new friends this year. After going back to college, I’ve befriended folks of verying ages throughout campus.

17) Who are your favorite new friends? Katie and Rosie. Both helped remind me how awesome I can be.

18) What was your favorite month of 2011? This is a tough one. I guess September when my best friend got married.

19) Did you travel outside of the US in 2011? As with last year, I remained domestic, but I would like to take another trip to Korea in the near future.

20) How many different states did you travel to in 2011? To or through? I drove out to Richmond, VA in January and took the train back with a two week stopover in Pensylviania. Oh, and those trips to see Dave in Chicago.

21) Did you lose anybody close to you in 2011? Valpal moved away in 2011. That’s been hard to get over.

22) Did you miss anybody in the past year? Grandpa was not around this year.

23) What was your favorite movie that you saw in 2011? Green Lantern (at NMU Campus Cinema). Not only is it a fun Ryan Reynolds movie, but I also met two awesome new friends and went on a crazy midnight adventure.

24) What was your favorite song from 2011? I found my traveling theme song: “Take a Back Road” by Rodney Atkins

25) What was your favorite record from 2011? I really expanded my country music selection singles from Rodney Atkins, Billy Currington (Good at Drinkin Beer), and Zac Brown Band (Knee Deep).

26) How many concerts did you see in 2011? None, I was too busy.

27) Did you have a favorite concert in 2011? NA

28) Did you drink a lot of alcohol in 2011? At one time, I’d mentioned becoming a ‘social drinker’, but this year I did A LOT of socializing, which meant A LOT of drinking. At least a lot more then in previous years.

29) Did you do a lot of drugs in 2011? Almost none even of OTC meds, and nothing harder.

30) How many people did you sleep with in 2011? Might be a record: 4 partners this year.

31) Did you do anything you are ashamed of this year? I did, but it was an important lesson in the social rules of casual relationships.

33) What was the worst lie someone told you in 2011? NA

34) Did you treat somebody badly in 2011? I did; I was still learning how to communicate new relationship boundaries.

35) Did somebody treat you badly in 2011? I have one friend who critisized more then built confidence.

36) How much money did you spend in 2011? I don’t have my bank books nearby, but my guess is around 15k.

37) What was your proudest moment of 2011? Not really a moment, but I worked around 25 hours/week spread over three jobs while also taking classes, doing homework, and having a moderately active social life. I stayed pretty busy this semester and only had one stress related breakdown.

38) What was your most embarrassing moment of 2011? First visit to the dance club in Marquette.

39) If you could go back in time to any moment of 2011 and change something, what would it be? I’d tell myself not be such a creeper toward the cute twin girl I chased after.

40) What are your plans for 2011? Find a companion and continue toward a life aspiration.

Current Mood: 😴tired

2011 was quite sensational.
