{"id":295,"date":"2008-04-28T12:41:00","date_gmt":"2008-04-28T12:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/192.168.1.142:8080\/2008\/04\/28\/a-weekend-well-spent\/"},"modified":"2022-10-26T10:13:06","modified_gmt":"2022-10-26T14:13:06","slug":"a-weekend-well-spent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/home.woodchuckhunters.com\/blog\/2008\/04\/28\/a-weekend-well-spent\/","title":{"rendered":"A Weekend Well Spent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Its been a while since I last provided any substance in my journal.&nbsp; So during today&#8217;s lunch hour, I&#8217;ll give you the summary and update of my weekend.<br \/>\nLet me start by saying that I&#8217;ve been creating a list of things that need to be done around my Grandparent&#8217;s farm.&nbsp; Everything from re-fencing to cleaning and beyond.&nbsp; This weekend, my brother, grandparents and I got three list items complete.&nbsp; Matt and I spent the first part of the day with Jim eating breakfast at the Kountry Kettle.&nbsp; Over which, apparently, we&#8217;ve come to the decision to have a lan party at my place this weekend.&nbsp; Afterward, Matt and I got started raking up the crud that was left around the grapevines.&nbsp; Last week, grandma had trimmed back about 10 years worth of grapevine overgrowth.&nbsp; Then the four of us reinforced the fenceposts, retied the wire to the posts, then tied the remaining vines to the wires.&nbsp; All in all, the grapevines look bare, but much more decorative and way less bushy.&nbsp; Next up; the brush around the walnut trees.&nbsp; Grandparents had two big walnut trees removed and sold for timber.&nbsp; The tree folks had taken the main log, then moved most of the large branches to one pile, but left a large ammount of brush in the yard.&nbsp; So we hooked the large flatbed trailer to the tractor and spent a good portion of four hours loading little pieces of brush, then unloading onto the burn pile.&nbsp; Looks like in a week or two we&#8217;ll be having a large bonfire.&nbsp; And the third thing was getting the ashes cleaned out of the burn barrel.&nbsp; The waterhole in the lane is still not filled in.&nbsp; I&#8217;m wondering if we can&#8217;t just get Jim to drive his front-end loader down and move the rock pile into the waterhole for some foundation, then grab some fill dirt to dump over the top.&nbsp; I just want the mud filled in so we can pull the flatbed trailer back and load up some scrap metal.<\/p>\n<div class='lj-moods-meta'><b>Current Mood:<\/b> \ud83d\ude41sore<br\/><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Its been a while since I last provided any substance in my journal.&nbsp; So during today&#8217;s lunch hour, I&#8217;ll give you the summary and update of my weekend.
