Every night, as I lay down to sleep, I give a prayer of thanks. Thanks for the beauty that I see in my day and the innumerable events that I surely take for granted. Ending every prayer is the phrase, “May your will be done through me.” I started saying this over a year ago, when I was busy and things in my personal life were getting kinda shaky. Now, even though I don’t feel like I need<\/i> the aid of Divine, I still say it, hoping to be inspired to sort-of “pay it forward”. I never really thought of what Divine Will would entail, but today I think I was shown pretty clearly what its all about.<\/p>\n
I came home from work today to see about 2 inches of snow over the sidewalk. For whatever reason, I’m the only tenant in my apartment building who feels the need to shovel the sidewalks, porch, and driveway. So I got out the snow shovel and went at the city sidewalk. As I make my way to the property line, I noticed that the neighbor’s sidewalk is also in need of shoveling. What the hell,<\/i> I shrug, I’m out here already.<\/i> So I continue shoveling across the neighbors sidewalk. With me a little more than halfway done, a car pulls up, parks on the street, and this good lookin’ gal gets out. “Uh, Hi,” she says, no doubt wondering who this strange guy is and why he’s shoveling her walkway. “Hi! I’m Marcus, I live in one of those apartments next door.” She reaches out and we shake hands, “I’m Megan.” “I was just out shoveling my walk and noticed this could be done as well.” “Well thank you, I just had shoulder surgery and haven’t been able to lift anything for weeks. Can I pay you?” Taken completely aback by her offer, I stuttered out, “Oh, no, no. Its nothing, really.” The truth is, I was doing a really half-assed job of shoveling.<\/p>\n
To summarize: Met Neighbor: Megan – attractive, bad shoulder, apparently works a lot, coming on to me (what, you didn’t get that from the story? hmm, maybe I made up that part).<\/p>\n
Ok, in retrospect, i suppose this is more of a happening than an act of Divine Will. Who knows, who cares… I’m heading to bed.<\/p>\n
