This is my latest idea. I turned an old story (Must Get Mentos from the Casual Psycho Phriends Series) into a radio drama. I plan on recording this in the studio or audio lab at NMU and then air it during my radio show. Tell me what you guys think!<\/p>\n

\nJamieson: Marc, are you ok? You\u2019re sitting a foot away from the television and you haven’t twitched in over an hour.

\nMarc: [with commercial ending] Mentos, The Freshmaker!
\n\u00a0
\nJamieson: Yeah\u2026 and you keep saying that. That\u2019s a ruler you\u2019re holding, not a Mentos tube. How many times have you watched that commercial anyway?
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: I dunno, I lost count after setting the TiVo to auto-repeat.
\n\u00a0
\nJamieson: Well, I\u2019d like to use my TV to watch Iron Chef this afternoon.
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: I have an idea. I\u2019ll let you use your TV if you give me some Mentos\u2026 I NEED MENTOS!
\n\u00a0
\nJamieson: What! [Slamming fists on table] This TV is mine! M-I-N-E, mine.
\n\u00a0
\n[Apartment Door opens and closes]
\n\u00a0
\n[TiVo sound, then Mentos Commercial restarts, faded in background]

\nMelissa: [tosses book bag into chair] Hey Jamieson, I just got this new DVD; I\u2019m going to watch it on your TV.\u201d
\n\u00a0
\nJamieson: Why does everyone want to use my TV? Don\u2019t you have a DVD player of your own?
\n\u00a0
\nMelissa: I only bought it \u2018cause I planned on using yours. [unwraps and pops Mentos] Mmm, fresh breath. Oh, I know! Let\u2019s watch your TV show, then watch my DVD.
\n\u00a0
\nJamieson: [with a sigh] Well, I guess I could let you use it.
\n\u00a0
\nMelissa: [with commercial ending] Mentos, The Freshmaker!
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: I NEED MENTOS! Melissa, please give me one!
\n\u00a0
\nMelissa: Sorry, I just ate the last one.
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: [heavy sigh] oh\u2026
\n\u00a0
\nMelissa: What\u2019s so great about Mentos anyway.
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: Well, after watching TV for about three straight days, I think Mentos can solve all of my problems in life.
\n\u00a0
\nJamieson: You want to get ahead in life? Get off my couch, get a job, and stop mooching off me.
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: Watch this.
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: [TiVo rewind sound] Ok, so here\u2019s a senator in the congressional meeting with Mentos. [TiVo sound] Oh, this is good! Here\u2019s footage of hurricane victims. Look at this guy right in front.

\nMelissa: [in disbelief] You\u2019ve got to be kidding me. That guy has a pack of Mentos.
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: And he looks healthier after he eats one.
\n\u00a0
\nJamieson: Wow, is it possible you could be any more gullible? Quick fixes don\u2019t work. Life takes hard work and determination; \u201cblood, sweat, and tears\u201d and all that jazz.
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: Well, you go on thinking that; I\u2019m going to get some Mentos.
\n\u00a0
\n[Marc starts walking away]
\n\u00a0
\nJamieson: You might want to check your pockets.
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: Uh\u2026 I don\u2019t have any money.
\n\u00a0
\nJamieson: Yeah, that\u2019s what I thought.
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: You wouldn\u2019t by chance have an extra buck\u2026 would you guy?
\n\u00a0
\nMelissa: You\u2019re not getting any money from me, you little mooch.
\n\u00a0
\nJamieson: You borrow enough from me. Ask the Landlord, he\u2019s bound to have some spare change.
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: You\u2019re right. Jon would has lots of money!
\n\u00a0
\n[Marc walks out the door.]
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: Ok, Building Supervisor, this is the room.
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: [knocks on door] What could be going on today?
\n\u00a0
\nJon: [overdone Asian accent] Marcus-san; what may I do for you?
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: I, uh\u2026 I need some money.
\n\u00a0
\nJon: [still accented] Well, come in my student and I shall teach you many lessons.
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: [stepping through door] A Japanese Temple? Jon, remind me again, why is you\u2019re apartment always changing into weird things?
\n\u00a0
\nJon: [still accented] Room is made of the substance which makes me. It is\u2026 as I will it to be.
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: [uncertainly] Right\u2026 magic\u2026
\n\u00a0
\nJon: [coughs, begins using normal voice] Ugh, it\u2019s hard to talk like that. Anyway, your lesson today shall be a lesson in pain! \u00a0er I mean, work; a lesson in work.
\n\u00a0
\nJon: Here, take this.
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: A wooden sword? What are we going to do with these?
\n\u00a0
\nJon: You want the money, like everything else in your life, right now. You must learn patience. If we take the hard road and do some extra work, then our reward will be that much more gratifying.
\n\u00a0
\nJon: Now, attack me! Give me a good fight and I will give you some money.
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: Well, I haven\u2019t worked out lately\u2026 or ever, but I did watch Power Rangers the other day. I\u2019ll try my best.

\nMarc: Hayah!
\n\u00a0
\n[wooden sword thumps as it hits Marc]
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: [falls to ground] Ommph!
\n\u00a0
\nJon: Again!
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: [sighs, then] Hayah! [swords hits marc again] Ahh!
\n\u00a0
\n[sword hits\u2026 again and again\u2026]
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: Jon, I can\u2019t do it; it\u2019s too hard.
\n\u00a0
\nJon: Life is hard Marc, but you can\u2019t give up. I can already see you getting better. If you strike me just once, you can have your money.
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: [thinking] hmmm\u2026 oh, I know.
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: Hoayah! [Swords crack together three times, then] yah! [sword hits Jon]
\n\u00a0
\nJon: [laughing, proudly] haha! I knew you had it in you!
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: [Exhausted] I can\u2019t believe it.
\n\u00a0
\nJon: How much did you need?
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: A buck or so, just enough for a pack of Mentos.
\n\u00a0
\nJon: Here, this should be enough. I hope you learned something today.
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: Yeah, I think I have. I\u2019ll see you later Jon.
\n\u00a0
\n[Marc leaves the room, walking around outside]
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: I wonder if I really need the Mentos. Maybe just taking responsibility for my life would be enough.

\n[Keeps walking, cars and town noises around]
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: Here I am, the convenience store.
\n\u00a0
\n[bell on door rings]
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: Searching for candies. Hmm\u2026 Chocolate bars, gum. Ah hah! The mints, and there\u2019s the blue and white box.
\n\u00a0
\n[Marc remembers the line \u201csweat and tears\u201d from Jamieson and \u201chard road\u201d from Jon.]
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: [the epiphany] Life really does take hard work, like sparing with Jon for only a few bucks. These are the most deserved two dollars I\u2019ve ever had. Do I really need to waste them on a quick fix? Or should I use this to start a new, well earned life?

\nMarc: [walks slowly away] Sorry Mentos, but Jamieson\u2019s done a lot for me over the years and I think its time I started paying him back.
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: [gasps, panicking] But wait! That little kid is taking the last pack!
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: [yelling across the store] THAT\u2019S MY LAST CHANCE AT HAPPIENESS!

\nMarc: [to himself] Need a weapon. Broom. Similar to wooden sword. Will suffice.

\nMarc: [running over and beating up kid] THIS IS MY PRECIOUS CANDY TREASURE!

\nMarc: [running out the door (remember, there\u2019s a bell on the door)] [in mock \u2018Gohlem\u2019 voice] Mentos, the precious.

\nMarc: [outside again] Now, when will I get to use it.
\n\u00a0
\nMarc: [knocked down by skateboarder or runner] Oomph.
\n\u00a0
\nTeenager: [moving past] Sorry dude.

\n[begin Mentos music]

\nMarc: [unwrapping and poping Mentos] Fresh breath. Clearing mind. Thoughts racing to me!

\nMarc: [in disgust] Euw, wait just a second\u2026 [record player scratches to halt] [Marc spits out candy] These taste terrible!

\nMarc: What was I thinking about, anyway? Meh, I\u2019ll go back to Jamieson\u2019s and get some dinner.
