2010 Year In Review

I have now done this questionnaire every year for the last four years. For those who don’t remember last year’s review: Jump [1]

1) Was 2010 a good year for you? This totally depends on how one defines a “good year”. It’s not been a particularly happy, but I’ve had so many amazing life experiences this year that it’d be hard to say it wasn’t a good year.

2) What was your favorite moment of the year? The whole year was a blur. I guess the first couple of kayak trips were pretty good.

3) What was your least favorite moment of the year? Its a toss up between Grandpa’s funeral, the new system implementation at work, and the moment of realization that Valerie and I shouldn’t be together.

4) Where were you when 2010 began? Sitting at Shanty Creek, drinking alcohol with Val and our friends.

5) Who were you with? Val and Nick and Stephanie and Stephanie and Matt Hudson.

6) Where will you be when 2010 ends/ended? At a party with Dave and Courtney in Chicago!

7) Who will you be with when 2010 ends/ended? With Dave and Courtney at least.

8) Did you keep your new years resolution of 2010? Goal was to get organized and develop the intentional community idea, which has not gone so well. I was working so much that, until I quit my job recently, I was unable to do much of anything else. Not until Dec. did I get a chance to start reorganizing.

10) Did you fall in love in 2010? Nope, only broken apart.

11) If yes, with who? That was not a yes answer.

12) If yes, do they know? same

13) Are you still in love with them? Yes. She and I have been through too much to not be friends forever.

14) Do you regret it? Not really. Our lifestyles are just too different.

15) Did you breakup with anyone in 2010? Yes. Val and I, after 4 years.

16) Did you make any new friends in 2010? Kind of. I’ve been pen-paling with new folks I’ve met online.

17) Who are your favorite new friends? I have a new pen-pal who’s job is to encourage “active lifestyles”. That’s kinda awesome.

18) What was your favorite month of 2010? December, just becomes it’s when my life has become my own again.

19) Did you travel outside of the US in 2010? Not this year, I remained domestic.

20) How many different states did you travel to in 2010? To or through? Illinois and Texas are the only states I traveled to, but the train cuts through all states between.

21) Did you lose anybody close to you in 2010? 2010 was the year of Grandpa’s passing.

22) Did you miss anybody in the past year? I have not seen enough of Dave this year. I look forward to spending the new year with him.

23) What was your favorite movie that you saw in 2010? Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

24) What was your favorite song from 2010? I listed mostly to video game covers this year. Something from that.

25) What was your favorite record from 2010? I don’t think I purchased any music this year.

26) How many concerts did you see in 2010? VIDEO GAMES LIVE at the Fox Theater in Detroit.

27) Did you have a favorite concert in 2010? Video Games Live was the only concert.

28) Did you drink a lot of alcohol in 2010? Not really. I’ve become strictly a social drinker.

29) Did you do a lot of drugs in 2010? Almost none even of OTC meds, and nothing harder.

30) How many people did you sleep with in 2010? Just one.

31) Did you do anything you are ashamed of this year? No, I did pretty well this year.

33) What was the worst lie someone told you in 2010? I wouldn’t have known if someone had lied to me. Someday, I’ll rewrite this question.

34) Did you treat somebody badly in 2010? Probably by accident. If I did treat you badly, I apologize.

35) Did somebody treat you badly in 2010? The corporate world.

36) How much money did you spend in 2010? My bank books tell me its around $15,000; almost half what I spent last year.

37) What was your proudest moment of 2010? Making a mostly unplanned trip to Texas by train. That was my epic moment of the year.

38) What was your most embarrassing moment of 2010? Quitting my job without another lined up was slightly embarrassing.

39) If you could go back in time to any moment of 2010 and change something, what would it be? At some time over the last few years, I should have asked Grandpa directly what his vision of the farmstead was.

40) What are your plans for 2010? I have the entire year to ‘find myself’ and figure out how I want to live my life, whether that’s in the mainstream corporate world or some other way.
