After the small thunderstorms we got this morning (the lightning woke me up at 4 am, reminding me to run around the house shutting the windows), south central michigan and northern ohio got slammed HARD with torrential rains (causing massive flash floods in Toledo), heavy winds, and a few tornadoes. This is the biggest storm i’ve EVER seen in the area. I can’t wait for tomorrow to hear what the aftermath is looking like. The news stations out of both Lansing and Toledo were on the air with live weather coverage for pretty much the entire night. It was absolutely phenomenal coverage! It reminded me of how I often believe that meteorologists have an easy job, doing only one news segment per night. But tonight, for over 7 hours, the meteorologists were center stage, and were pushed to the limits of exhaustion.
All in all, they did an exceptional job, and this was by far one of the most memorable storms of the year.
